Over the past few years there has been a great deal of controversy over the subject of gobal warming or climate change, with numerous leading scientists and political figures having entirely opposing views on the subject.Nevertheless, one thing is definitively certain, the Globe’s natural resources do need looking after, and regardless of your perspective on the climate change fiasco, the limited resources that we have taken for granted for so long will gradually run out unless of course we carry out some significant modifications to our lifstyle, and start looking to renewable forms of energy.

Recently, numerous government authorities have provided monetary incentives to consumers and corporations who make investments into renewable energy sources, such as solar power and wind energy. Unfortunately the initial expense may turn out to be a little costly for a large number of consumers. It will certainly come down in price in the long term as new materials and methods of manufacturing are identified, sadly until then it continues to be a stumbling block for a lot of individuals.

The price of energy continues to increase, and is consuming a larger part of a families disposable income. As the population increases there will be an accelerated demand for energy and as a consequnce prices will increase even further. This does not even include the prospect of suppliers from various other international locations restricting supplies because of regional tensions or even home demand.

Until eventually the day does come when home energy is the norm, knowledgeable consumers are looking to generate their own energy requirements by setting up their own solar power systems and wind generators. There are a selection of excellent do it yourself home energy publications that demonstrate in detail how an individual can easily become practically self sufficient in energy, and in many circumstances can actually make money by simply selling surplus energy back to the utility companies.

In our view, probably the best of these publications is Green Power Easy’s wonderfully simple Guide to Alternative Energy. Get complete details as to how this remarkable guide can help you save significantly on your power bills by clicking here.

This article will give an overview of the types and costs of various solar arrays and their physical and economical viability.

There are numerous applications for solar power lighting but probably the two most important are: (1) lighting our households and (2) making life more agreeable in outdoor situations such as camping. This article will attempt to provide simple and pertinent information about these two functions..

Lighting for the outdoors such as when we are out camping is usually provided by small petrol engine driven generators. These are fairly expensive to buy and to run. They are also noisy and smelly, to say nothing of their pollution. Solar power lighting on the other hand is less expensive (as a do-it-yourself project), far more portable and is totally non-polluting. The downside is that batteries required to store the power generated from the sunlight so that it is available at night. Admittedly these batteries are heavy to handle but no more so than a petrol or diesel engine generator set.

Solar power can also be used to generate electricity for the household. This is becoming a more common practice due to the falling prices of solar panels and the increasing prices of the power supplied by utilities. The solar panels are usually placed on the house roof and could cost as much as $20,000 to supply the needs of an average household. This is very much a ballpark figure as there are so many variables involved. For example many people these days build their own solar panels to provide solar power lighting simply because this can be done for as little as 25% of the cost of a commercially built product.

There are a number of excellent e-books available on the Internet that provide step by step directions for constructing your own solar panels and wind turbine generators and these are well worth reading.

In our view, probably the best of these publications is Green Power Easy’s wonderfully simple Guide to Alternative Energy. Get complete details as to how this remarkable guide can help you save significantly on your power bills by clicking here.

This article deals briefly with the economics involved in the solar power versus grid power. It also deals with do-it-yourself alternative residential solar power systems as opposed to the very much greater costs of commercial models.

Residential solar power systems certainly generate a lot of uncertainty among prospective users. People seem to find themselves torn between whether or not it is a feasible solution to reducing power costs in the first place, with the question of where to buy and how much to pay for a commercially produced product being the second most important question. This article will briefly discuss some of the issues involved in these dilemmas in the hope that it will help people in their decision making.

To delve thoroughly into the economics of solar versus supplied, or grid power is beyond the scope of this article, I think it would be agreed by the majority of people that, generally speaking, solar power in the long run would be a most economical proposition. In the short run this would not be so, and the breakeven point would depend on the cost of the solar unit and supplied electricity. With the costs of commercial units gradually reducing and the cost of supplied electricity gradually increasing we are faced with an ever changing breakeven point. But as I said, generally speaking the more economical solution would be solar power.

As to the sourcing and the cost of commercially produced solar units, that too is beyond the scope of this article, but an important aspect that is often overlooked completely is the feasibility of do-it- yourself residential solar power systems. These can very easily be built by the home handyperson at a fraction of the cost of a commercially produced unit. This solution has often been discussed in such venues as: America Online, MNSBC, CNBC, and the New York Times, and it is such an important alternative that it is essential to consider it before moving to the more expensive alternative.

Probably the best source of material dealing with do-it-yourself residential solar power systems is the Internet. There are many e-books available that deal quite comprehensively and simply with such projects.

In our view, probably the best of these publications is Green Power Easy’s wonderfully simple Guide to Alternative Energy. Get complete details as to how this remarkable guide can help you save significantly on your power bills by clicking here.
